Well. That’s your view. Certainly not mine nor plenty of others so don’t try and take the moral high ground here because there really isn’t any to take. You’ve misinterpreted that’s all. Which is fine. And with hindsight perhaps even understandable. But please don’t hyjack or hyperbole the OPs original intent when no offence was ever intended and moreover plenty of people haven’t misconstrued as you seem to have done.
Part of me says huge congratulations. You will be a fantastic grandad.
But another part of me says, WTF?! Somehow we're all getting old on here - but when I'm in in 'NSC world' it always feels like we are all the same age we were 15 or 20 years ago. Where did the time go?
Anyway, forget that second part. All of me says a huge congratulations. Gramps.

People who are dealing with cancer are entitled to take whatever steps they can, including joking about it. People who aren't affected do not have the same entitlement, and if they get flamed it is fully deserved.

At the OP, you’ve hit out at them in haste when really you’re angry at cancer. That is perfectly understandable. Just trying to help you see that there’s no way on earth El Pres would have known your sister has cancer nor would seek to cause you any more distress than you’re clearly experiencing.

I don't normally say this stuff, but you are one of my favourite posters, who regularly makes me snort coffee down my nose at various inopportune moments. So your congrats are most gratefully received on this most finest of days for me chap. As for age - I am currently a highly immature 47, and my new grandson Alfie will learn nothing from me except the words to Sussex By The Sea (sung twice today as he lay oblivious in the crook of my arm), a love of Lego, an interest in all that is trivial, and a detailed biopsis of every damn Brighton player I have ever loved.
I can only open the door - whether Alfie chooses to walk through it can only be down to him. But I do think he's going to be with his gramps as a BHAFC mentalist. The brainwashing has already commenced.

No, he didn't know she had cancer. Or that I'd had it. Or that lots of other NSCers have undoubtedly been affected by it. It was just a crap thoughtless post. Just accept that and get on with it.

Oh heck. I don't have an Omsong, or a strong opinion on leftbacks. I'm not sure I'm cut out for this Grandad business.
Like your moderating decisions this is misjudged and ill thought out. While I'm an advocate of gallows humour (both my parents died of cancer) it's probably best reserved for close friends and family, not a stranger and not on a public message board.
A severe lapse of judgment there. Poor show.

I have been wrong before, but to me this appears to be a joke about the NSC readership holding Lawrenson’s lack of Brighton name-dropping as a personal insult.
The joke being, we think Brighton should be the central attention point of everything he says, when he clearly has better things to talk about. The target here is NSC, nothing else.
Genuinely see no malice in the opening post.
