Just 3 TV channels existed when Servalan was first on our screens - and BBC2 wasn't up to much if I remember correctly. This was proper boxset TV for the time.

Ah Blakes Seven. The ultimate beige and brown early 1970's low budget TV Sci-Fi. Star Wars it wasn't...
From what I recall Blake was more of a Woodwork Teacher than a Galactic Rebel and his character eventually got binned so the morally dubious but far more fun Avon could run the Rebellion.
For some reason this included having several free and frank Ugandan Discussions with Servalan. Lucky Boy!
Think the lead decided he was a better actor and merited better than Blake's 7.
