I’m passing no comment or judgement on Thatcher, just some interesting photos. Perhaps it’s the style but you’d think these were from slums in the early 20th Century. Interesting anyway.

A bit misleading that. Most of those images were in the 1970s before Thatcher became Prime Minister in 1979.

Good point, for all her faults, and she had many, I think if Mrs May had inherited some of her qualities then this country would be in a far better position than it currently is.

don't really see anything that shocking or surprising in the pics. maybe because i'm older. think people forget how long ago thatcher was. to my mind she was a classic politician, great on some things dire on others. of course spin existed but not to the same degree, kind of knew where you were with her.

I was in magazine publishing at that time, royal mail strikes and service nearly bankrupted me 3 times, and they didn't give an S! Union bullying was unreal, she changed that.

Classic. These photos are from the dying days of the last hard left Labour U.K. government, nothing to do with Thatcher. About the time Labour had to go to the IMF to borrow money to keep the country going. It was a shambles then and will if Momentum get power this time

If your going to link some pictures of “Thatchers Britain” make sure they aren’t from Callaghan’s Britain otherwise you look a bit silly!

James Callaghan and Dennis Healey were hardly "hard left". More social democrat than socialist.
