No but the hotel is adjacent to the lanes and perhaps 5 mins from seafront. Theop said ocean view not essential.
Alternatively, it the lady enjoys Fanta have a look at the Travelodge. Give her a pound coin for the Klix vending machine in Recepion and get ready to recreate the old magic

Definitely not. Stayed there in December and the rooms were either old and tired if you were towards the back or they get lots of street noise if you are at the front.
I can’t disagree more.

I couldnt disagree with you more either. Its almost like we have had different experiences with both.

Having had a few really poor experiences at The Grand, I now always stay in the Metropole instead. Granted this was before The Grand had the refurb, but most of the issues were service-related more than anything else.
The Grand Hotel is a class above is every way.

It had a bit of a wobble about 10 years back but I really like it now. And having stayed in both The Grand wins by a big margin. There’s a certain old school grandeur about The Grand from the service, ambience and building, the rooms are better and the common areas are way way better and more spacious.

I would stay at the Grand - however I wouldn't eat there as the food is only fairly average. I would take a short walk along the seafront into central Hove and eat at Etch on church road. Amazing food and experience. Lovely part of the city as well. Tons of nice places to drink, eat and relax and not all touristy and loud like central Brighton
Spot on suggestion. Breakfast at The Grand is good, but I’d lunch at Cin Cin, go to the AMEX and then have dinner at Etch as you suggest. Nice stroll back along the seafront afterwards as well. That’s a perfect day.
The rooms at this place are stunning, great staff and service too. Some of the rooms have saunas, whirlpool baths etc. Don't think they serve dinner but loads of places nearby obviously.
