But, I can guess as to why you haven’t returned to the Bevy thread which you were so vocal on yesterday. And it’s because every point you made was picked apart by a variety of different posters. At the very least we both know who was posting tripe yesterday.

But shouldn't it be enough involvement to not care... by which I mean, as a shopkeeper or business owner I don't care about your sexuality. As a friend, family member, colleague, I don't care... you are you, my customer (or friend, family member, employee, boss, whatever) and your sexual preferences in no way change your status.

Isn't equality about not being singled out as different. Shops with flags/bunting shouldn't have to go out of their way and do something different, just treat people as valued customers regardless throughout the year. And on this one weekend it doesn't hurt to remind the bigotted homophobes that your shop welcomes all customers regardless of those personal traits which have no impact on their value as customers.

Well I for one am looking forward to it.

Despite the understandable grumblings about corporate involvement, money is at least flowing into Pride itself so that charities can benefit in way they could not when the town just freeloaded off the party in the park before.

It is an incredibly positive and inclusive event designed to let people know it's ok to be you and have fun. Whilst I'm looking forward to two days in the park the highlight for me is always the parade, a marvellous thing that brings together all communities in their hundreds of thousands. It is something of which our city can be immensely proud. For some of my friends it is THE weekend of the year and is to be celebrated in style, and I agree with them.

Big difference between not liking the event as a spectacle, many of my gay friends don't like the weekend, myself can't be bothered with the crowds and OTT nature of the event, however the celebration of people being themselves has to be applauded.

I thought Pride included Trans? ( I thought Pride include ALL sexuality) Why a seperate one? Not that I'm against it in the slightest, just seems odd.

It does in name but it doesn't in much else in my opinion.

From what I have seen of pride (very little) in the last few years it's chaps in hotpants off their mittens on exctasy pipes.

Yeah and given the ongoing discrimination against the Trans community, much of it coming from mainstream voices, elements of that community feel in a less celebratory mood, especially when confronted with half of straight Brighton in drag.
