[Misc] Ladybirds... where are they?

My clearest memory of the last significant "heatwave" in Sussex (1976) is of ladybirds carpeting lawns and the promenades...

Anyone know why they haven't appeared this time round?

Have they all flown away home because their house is on fire?

Would make sense.

There are indeed fewer ladybirds this year. But then again, fewer blackfly too.

I wonder if the particularly cold and wet Winter has had an effect?

I saw two ladybirds when I removed some creeper from the shed roof the other day. The rest were probably at Biggin Hill or Lancing. Some may have gone to the Leicester training ground.

Mrs W only yesterday commented on the lack of the little ********. It's very strange but welcome.

Huh. I can tell you why you’re not seeing them: they’re all in Cambs. I’ve had to deal with 3 nests on my property this year already; the latest only yesterday. Mind you, a quick squirt of bendiocarb powder at the nest entrance(s) and the job’s a good un.

No wasps around here, a few ladybirds on the plot even though there's enough of blackfly about.
Loads of sodding white cabbage butterfly though!!

Plenty of wasps and bees in our garden but very few ladybirds - that is a bit strange

Seen more Butterfly's this year in the garden but not many ladybirds we need to put water in shallow containers to help bees.

Not one ladybird, wasps in the bee hive, barstrads, only cabbage whites no others, strange year.
