That's because they've had to pay some 4 foot scrote protection money!

Never paid protection money before. First time there in1983 the aforementioned 4 ft scrote did ask but we just said do your worst as the car is insured. Left it where it was and no damage.

Does that mean you struggled to sell out the away end of Watford and Liverpool?

The story is about feedback from fans after the way tickets were allocated for the 2 away games that have gone on sale so far.

My problem with how loyalty points works currently is the fact they’ve basically became a blackmail tool to keep people from cancelling their season ticket. Making points only count for consecutive season ticket purchases causes this problem.

Money tight? Well you could cancel your season ticket and see where you are in 12 months but don’t expect to be going to any really big away games for the next 4 or 5 years.

Work every other weekend now? Well you could cancel your season ticket but once you get back to a Monday 9-5 don’t expect to see any games south of Birmingham for a while.

You go to football with you son and he’s off to uni? Or he wants to go backpacking for a year? Well tough shit, unless you leave his seat empty for three years you aren’t going together again for a while unless you break the rules.

All of the above situations would have been largely minimised by simply removing the need for season tickets to be consecutive, but no the club decided to use it as a tool to punish anybody who has the gall to have money flow problems or the sheer audacity to not be able to commit to a season ticket for a single season. For what it’s worth, the season I missed out on was the 2015/16 season, before this rule was brought in. I was unemployed and struggling to find a job when ST renewals came around. My season ticket band jumped up too, I want to say there had been a student/young person group that was removed? It’s the only season I’ve missed since 01/02, and I still managed to attend 15 games that season. However the club decided all my history with them meant f*ck all. I missed out on one season so I deserve to go to the back of the queue along with people who jumped on the bandwagon the year we missed out on promotion via Goal Difference.

So screw it, I could play the game the club wants me to, climb the ladder slowly and factor losing my away game placing in to any life decision which might require me to give up my season ticket, OR I could build up a network of people who rarely go to away games but have found themselves in the top bracket(s), either through being in 1901 or through other means and go about it that way. I wanted to see our first Premier League away game, and I got a ticket, as soon as that happened I realised there was absolutely nothing to worry about and I’ve been proven right. :shrug

The club didn't use it as to punish but to reward loyalty! That's why they are called loyalty points!

So the fact I lost my job makes me less loyal?

The fact that there was one season where I had to choose between BHAFC and having a roof over my head makes the previous 15 years of loyalty obsolete?

Get your head out of your arse, pal

The club can't accommodate every separate set of circumstances. It's not a perfect system but no system will be. If you were asked to come up with a better system to distribute the limited away tickets you'd come up with one that suited your circumstances and the next guy would do the same for his set of circumstances and so on!

I actually came up with a slight twerk to the current system, which put me nowhere near the top and addressed my main issue with the system when we last discussed away allocations. You ignored roughly 99% of what I put.

I’ll ask again though, apart from blackmailing people in to keeping their Season Tickets, what benefit does making only consecutive seasons tickets count have? ???

It might be fairer to have, say, a carve-out where you can suspend your ST for a season without losing ‘loyalty’ in extenuating circumstances (job loss for example) but I guess the admin from the club’s perspective makes this a ballache.

A season long carve out is a good idea, or just take out the consecutive part.

If you’ve had your season ticket for 8 out of 8 years you get maximum points. If you’ve had it for 7 out of 8 you get slightly less, 6 is slightly less again etc etc. I’ll admit it annoys me more than anybody else because I’ve been screwed over by this system, but I’ve still yet to hear a valid justification for the consecutive part.

People like to tell me it’s not basically a blackmail tool, but nobody has been able to tell me why else it’s there.

Not really. Watford sold out in two days and we’ve sold out our 2900 allocation for Liverpool, which is still two and a half weeks away, a teatime kick off on the bank holiday w/end and with no trains back. We’re doing fine.

You see it as a blackmail tool because you've missed out due to circumstances beyond your control. The downside to your proposals is that now we have a waiting list for season tickets so in your case if you were unable to buy this year you might find yourself at the back of the season ticket waiting list so, out of your control you might find you have a longer than two year gap!

Well I am sorry that happened and hope you are sorted now. But shit happens and you can't expect the club to cater for every eventuality! And by the way there is no need to be offensive!

Not quite - we've taken an allocation of 1,868 for Liverpool.

You have still yet to give a reason why the consecutive season ticket rule applies if it isn’t a blackmail tool.

It’s almost like you can’t think of one.
