A great example of a witch hunt. People calling for prison time because he disrespected an inanimate object, he didn't even damage it! Classic example of class discrimination as well, people wanted to make an example of him because he was posh.

Criminal damage under £1000 is a slap on the wrist. As an ex-magistrate who has posted in this thread has said, over that amount, it becomes a Crown Court offence. The penalties are laid out in law, which has been passed by parliament. Nobody is calling for anything. Those are the penalties.

You’re right, it’s always happened. Tw*ttish behaviour has been around since time immemorial. Just the description has changed.
