I'm not a fan of his management. I don't think we have enough creative quality to play a 5-4-1 this was evident against Columbia where we barely looked like scoring. It reminded me of a Gus sides where we have lots of possession but don't take advantage. And like a Gus side there's no plan B

I'm yet to see anything from the current England side that was above expectations and I think most managers would have had a similar World Cup.

I do like his interviews and his positivity but I don't think I've seen anything exceptional from the players under Southgte
      The formation is 3-5-2

I decided to take a look back to see if you had posted anything in the last few weeks about your expectations of this England squad. Well, …

You thought they would get 0 points in the group stage:-

And you also had this to say:-

So, what the England manager and his squad have achieved in this World Cup is clearly way above what YOU expected.

      Are you Scottish?
Fair enough! I haven't been a huge supporter of the side, I never expected us to do well at this World Cup but clearly we have. I have been pessimistic throughout. Before the tournament I was playing down my expectations and now am not getting carried away.

We have always been in and around the top 10 in Fifa rankings and I don't feel our current squad has the ability to beat any other top 10 sides so once we come up against one we will probably lose. I don't think this current squad is as good as previous World Cup squads, but we have beaten the lesser teams which is something we have failed to do at most tournaments during my lifetime. But any England squad should beat the sides we have faced so I'm yet to be convinced we can go all the way.

Makes a change to have a team rather than a bunch of star names and led by a man who doesn’t have an ego. All rather refreshing. Bit like Brighton really.

Creativity wise we have Harry Winks and Lewis Cook coming through - I think Winks would have gone if not for injury.

I'll have a slice of humble pie please.

Thought he'd be a bit of an FA 'yes man'. That he wouldn't bring any fresh ideas to the side, or shake the national team out of our current lethargic slumber.

Very happy to be proven wrong. We're NOT total sh*t like usual, and I'm actually enjoying England play.

We've still got a way to go before we can compete with the big boys, but we've taken a step in the right direction.
Iím proud to have been one of Englandís biggest supporters & trumpet blowers on here for decades but even I had reservations about him because of his poor record in club management. Delighted to be proved wrong and refreshing to see an England team play at a major without fear.
Seeing kids in the school or in the parks with Albion shirts instead of the big clubs and easy ones, thatís it. We have done it.

Hmnnn, I don't think Winks is the type of player particularly capable of unlocking stubborn defences, more someone who'd be good to have on the bench to help us just keep the ball ticking over playing simple passes while we're trying to hold on to a lead.
