Not a contradiction as I drive to the speed limit but in so doing may veer slightly above it but not by as much as 10mph or so unless overtaking for a very short distance..

A quick question regarding average speed cameras. If like the M23 ones is the average speed taken between each set of cameras, or do they take the average speed from the first camera to the last camera?

Thank you. So basically you can drive the whole length of the roadworks below the average speed and not be caught, but still be caught should you drive above the average speed between 1 set of cameras.
Even worse you could take no notice at all of the speed, and from the start of the roadworks right up to the time you drive past the last camera you could lose your licence.

Just followed a woman in a great big new white 4x4 Mercedes through the (non) roadworks on the M23. Virtually slammed her brakes on at every overhead (average) speed camera. [emoji849][emoji849]

I seem to remember there was a test case a few years ago where a feller triggered a load of speed cameras on a road in the midlands. He argued that he had only committed one offence as he was constantly driving over 70mph. The judge chucked it out and he got (I think) 3 points for each one.

The average speed cameras along the seafront between the Marina and the pier have a 30 mph average speed limit. Now what happens if you do 50mph then stop and a red light then continue at 30 mph ?

The one at the Marina end got wrecked and has been removed for now

My missus works for the safer road partnership.

For average speed cameras with several sets of cameras they vary the sets used.

Sometimes it's first and last. Sometimes 2nd and 4th set. Sometimes 1st and 3rd.

Basically you'll never know so if you don't want to get caught then don't speed through any of it.

You don't need maths to drive a Chelsea tractor.
