I assume the OP is actually just fishing.....

Not an assumption I would make.
I assume he thought we'd all take advantage in some way and the OP was wondering just how far was acceptable.

wouldn't it be funny if the boss of the Company who broke the rear window was a NSC poster and read the OP

This could be a fishing trip and I've just been hooked but ...

the law on negligence [which is what most folk call an accident] is very clear.
The negligent party must put the damaged party back to a position they were in before the negligent event, or as near as possible - no more, no less.

Then along came litigation for personal injury and the flood gates opened ....

As already said many times above - to find someone with the decency to fess up, should not get a "ker-ching" reaction.

Hi

Looking for some advice, my back windscreen was smashed on my car - a company cutting the grass has accepted responsibility (orally and in writing) and said that they would pay for it to be replaced, just to get a quote and not involve insurance. What do you think I should do? I want to get some extra money out of them as I have been inconvenienced - what's the best way to go about this? I'm not saying I want to fleece them but I should be entitled so something surely, where there is a blame and all that?
Cheers

Honestly..? CJTC

Deserved having your windows put in if that's your attitude
