Can we assume the injury was picked up on international duty during the pointless International World Cup friendlies.
With that sort of recovery period we would have had him in as soon as the season finished if it was already an existing issue.

On what are you basing that feeling?
It can't only be 'one of many many players has routine op in off season'?

Little more than his high pedigree and the fact that we all know 5-6 weeks out for a routine op in Albion speak means we won’t see him until Xmas at the earliest.

The news from his Dad. If it’s 5/6 weeks from now that’s end July- Watford (A) is Aug 11th . Sporting Lisbon is Aug 3.

Seems strange that he played two friendly games for Ireland when knowing he was injured. If the op had taken place at the end of the season he’d have been back for preseason. Can only assume injury wasn’t that bad initially.

Argus have followed up on this today:

http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/163...nder-shane-duffy-recovers-from-groin-surgery/
Has Hughton quote. Says he's confident he'll make start of the season. ie: Watford on Aug 11th.

"Right towards the end of the season he experienced a little bit of discomfort. It wasn’t bad enough to stop him playing.
“Then he went away with the Irish team and was feeling it more. He’s had a small procedure.
“It will set him back a bit and he will miss a period of pre-season but we are very confident he will make the start of the season.”

The players are back at Lancing on Thursday (bar Duffy + World Cup trio + a couple of others on international duty at end of season - only Hemed, Kayal i think.

That really does suck. Just hope he doesn't come back prematurely. He could have missed the climax as we were safe.

Going for a rare positive spin. Duffy has slight problem with groin at end of season, seems like nothing and cleared to play end of season. Goes off with Ireland and reports back his groin felt a bit worse. Award winning medical team get on the case, think theres a risk of it flaring up next season and manage to squeeze in a small op before the season starts.
