Wasn't Argos Oddyssius's loyal dog that slept in a compost heap every day waiting for his return? Then when Odysseus returned he was the only one who recognised him?

In fairness, they had a decent headline in the paper (but not online) today. It was a story about pygmy goats breaking into Varndean School and eating students' work. It read 'Hey teacher, leave those kids alone.'

Yes, that was Argos (an old dog BTW, Odysseus was gone 20 years)

But Argus as in newspapers was a giant in Greek mythology who had 100 eyes, so he never had all eyes closed (even when asleep). Newspapers like to think they have a 24-hour view of everything (that's before they closed down local offices and moved to Southampton, of course)
