I’m going to be contrarian here. I don’t like him at all.
His behaviour during the Suarez/ Evra racism row was an absolute disgrace. He played the “everyone’s against us” card whilst Fergie let justice take its course.

A bit of a blot (in the context of the pressure of the media), but does nothing to diminish his career and his subsequent support of the Hillsborough families.
He has dedicated his post football time to charity, not a lot of ex-footballers bother.
I'm not really one for the honours system, but he deserves one.

To get a knighthood for simply playing a game which involves kicking a ball over a line, is just ridiculous. Where is the common sense? He's not a hero or an inspiration, he's just lucky to have been born with the ability to become a very good footballer. He should feel blessed not 'honoured'. Give it to someone whose life doesn't evolve around 90 mins a week.

Very very unfair.
Raised millions for charity, particularly cancer focused ones and has done a lot for the families of Hillsborough. Not the first time he has recognised for it.
Oh and he was a top footballer, but he isn't getting a knighthood just for that.
I agree with you on the general point, but he deserves it. Very quietly putting a lot back and using his celebrity in the city to do so. Not seeing out his days annoying people as a pundit on Sky.

Would perhaps be true if he hadn’t basically dedicated so much of his time, after he stopped playing and managing, to the victims and families of Hillsborough. Very harsh view IMO.

Fair enough. I'm not too aware of what Kenny does away from football but from what you've said he sounds like a good bloke. My point wasn't just targeting KD, all of these football knighthoods. They're all living the dream, being very pampered and treated like super humans.
I love football but these football knighthoods just show how distracted and brainwashed we're getting by football. What happened to 'it's just a game'? The way it's going, In the next 60 years I bet we'll have an ex England captain running for PM. I can see it now, we'll have religions where the likes of George Best and Stanley Matthews are believed to be missionaries sent down to show us the spirituality within playing football. The Pope will be selected through the European golden boot winner. Sky sports news will be the main news followed at the end with a quick round up of all the days non-sporting news.

We all **** up. Now if you want to dig yourself a bigger hole ("all of these football knighthoods"), I'd go off and research exactly how may footballers have been knighted and explain why they don't deserve it.

Whats wrong with art? It goes back hundreds of thousands of years. It plays a huge part in our evolution. We have galleries and museums dedicated to it. Comparing it to football is just ridiculous. I think you should go back to your sky sports news, we're clearly on different pages.
