When we broke our transfer record and paid £4M for a third choice defender 2 years ago it didn't work out too badly

Duffy was always going to be a starter. Moore will have Dunk, Duffy and potentially Balogun ahead of him.

I think that we will play that formation next season and have said so many times. I also think a number of clubs will play the same formation. especially if England are successful.

Could be - although we’re going to need a few more CBs if that’s the case or hope they all stay fit all season. And no suspensions. The Pröpper / Stephens strategy.

TBF - I don't think there is much left you haven't said many times.

We are going to have 4 CBs in the squad next season whatever happens. Balogun and Moore potentially are step ups on Uwe and Goldson and it’s unlikely Dunk/Duffy will be ever presents again. (Remarkable lack of suspensions/injuries)
Also Moore and Balogun can play full back as well.
If Moore is the plan that is.
pS: If we are going 3 at the back then that can probably only mean one thing.
Getting ready for Hughton to move on :) - he plays 4-4-1-1 and 4-4-2 and that’s it.

Not sure Duffy is entirely trusted so he won't be that far down the pecking order.

For a player who isn't entirely trusted, he did pretty well to play almost every game last season then! One of the first names on Chris Hughton's team sheet l think. Lewis Dunk probably wouldn't have done so well last season without big Shane alongside him either.

That's our new back four, innit?

(Or are there special rules about which quarter of the back line a defender is allowed to stand in, in the absence of very specialist training?)

With Duffy out injured for most/all of pre-season and Balogun presumably missing a chunk of it due to the world cup it seems to me that there's a starting spot very much up for grabs for Moore if he were to sign.

Just to back this up, Duffy has been in the starting 11 for every single league game that he’s been available for since he signed in August 2016.

Hughton said that Duffy will be fine for the big kickoff. He was confident on that

Clement was interviewed by local press this afternoon, said we're determined to keep hold of him, so I don't think we've accepted a bid yet

Would be surprised if we turned down £10m though

According to Sky Sports news this morning £10m turned down.
