So minor county Sussex take on the inventors of cricket , this should be a formality for the proper cricket side but stranger things happen , and we should be thankful such a team still agrees to play against the likes of us .

If you're that way inclined you can actually pay to see our humiliation via a live stream . https://sussexcricket.co.uk/

I think you'll find that if any one county can claim to be the 'inventor of cricket', that county is Sussex.

Ridiculous , how can Sussex have invented cricket , Middlesex were playing cricket at least 200 years before cricket was actually invented (apparently )

If you wish to listen just how they invented it here's today's lesson and audio link .

True of course. He probably meant inventor of professional cricket.

The first recorded instance of a team being paid to play cricket was in 1697 ... in Sussex.

And the first acknowledged county team, with professional players, was .... Sussex

(The history of Sussex cricket was my second specialist subject on Mastermind, I should have made it my first :lolol: )

We won the toss and are having a bowl.

At least we won something today. Good work by Ben Brown to prolong the game for as long as possible by letting them get 400+ before bowling us out cheaply.

I think yoi'll find that the earliest reference to cricket is in the Bible. Acts of the Apostles. Acts Chapter 2 verse 14. .....and Peter stood up with the XI.

Probably seen the Ifollow format where you pay for a non existent service , my surplus cash will be pumped into saving the elusive snow leopard this season as you do receive a nice cuddly toy .
