[Albion] Goldson - Rangers [CONFIRMED]

Gerrard can f*ck right off. Having lost Hunemeier it would be stupid to sell Goldson and as regards talk of "he needs games" there are more Prem defender who don't play than do play.

Given the physicality of the way in which Dunk and Duffy throw themselves about it is only a matter of time before one - or both - get injured. Goldson will get his chance.

Goldson played the home game against Watford, and in all the cup games this season. Besides, £1.2M is an insult, especially when they haven't paid for Jamie Murphy yet.

If Goldson gets 5 or 6 Prem games in 2018/19 and looks good then worst case scenario is we sell him to a Championship desperado team for £8mill+.

He is already a proven quality Championship, the sort of signing that might have seen Fulham concede a few less goals and go up automatically instead of Cardiff.

I will never, ever understand Protestant / Catholic sectarianism as long as I live. I understand, obviously, the Republican / Unionist issues, but the actual religious aspect - I just don't get it at all.

It's like me falling out with somebody else who loves mature cheddar cheese, over which supermarket they prefer to buy it in

There is very little for the papers to report with the season virtually finished so a lot of rumours will be printed. I can understand Goldson wanting games but wouldn't think that he would consider Rangers unless Murphy has dropped a word here and there.

There is always the possibility that if we struggle to replace Bruno CH may consider a 3 man CB formation if it proves a success for England in Russia in which case he would play for us regularly.

It’s a possibility but a remote one.

Given CH likes us to be tight defensively, 3 CB’s is the easiest formation to break down IMO, Chelsea also demonstrated this.

Goldson will get more opportunities next season, I would have thought.

Also, as others have said, I would be very surprised if Rangers can afford him - ?in excess of £10m (which is what he is probably worth - again IMO).

CH needs to consider playing Goldson rather than treating him as just a valuable back up. If not I believe CG WILL have his head turned by someone: he's had a serious life scare, realises more than most that career and life are fragile, and he must want to play. It's not like Uwe's situation. CG deserves his chance, at least to be rotated with Duffy regularly. Use him or risk losing him IMO.

Goldson to Rangers? That's almost as laughable as Celtic paying a million smackers for Virgo to warm the bench...oh, hang on...

Believe it or not, but that’s not easy to say no too. If he wants to go ok, but who wants an unhappy player at the club?
I also think that bearing in mind all that he has been through he probably deserves a break in his career, but in the end it’s up to him.

I reckon he will go ( maybe a loan as rangers could be potless ), meaning we could go with

Dunk
Duffy
1 quality new recruit
Ben White

as our 4 central defenders next season.

And the Scottish window isn't open until 9th June anyway, so a whole month of will-he-won't-he to come.

1.2 Million! I think we the fans could quickly muster a counter offer bigger than that to keep him at the club (we raise that sum at every game we play). They really must be absolutely potless and this must be the first warning sign for Gerrard.

Why? Duffy was brought in expressly because Goldson (and Dunk) were bullied and lost a aerial battle v Burnley., which highlighted a weakness is our team / squad. Everyone is fawning over Goldson like he's the best central defender ever, but overall Duffy IS better. Goldson will play, but he will need to wait his chance. We were fortunate with injuries this season just completed. but that won't necessarily last.

For the money being mentioned so far I would not want to sell him.

A loan sounds like a much better idea, I want to keep him but some football there would be great for his development.

Strictly speaking, it's not up to him. We turned down offers for Dunk, who even refused to play two years ago, and had a similar situation with Stephens. Both of those will advise Goldson to stay put.
Connor will get his chances.

£1.5M, to a club who was desperate to pay a Capital Gains tax bill, from the proceeds of the sale of the Goldstone, because those proceeds hadn't been invested into a new stadium in the time scale allowed.
There was a reason the NIMBYs kept delaying the dexcision, but others in football were willing to be friends. It was a Beeney situation again.

He's nearly 26 years old. If they want to help us develop a centre back, we can loan them Ben Barclay.
