Interestingly boring fact

All the teams in all 5 divisions this year who were promoted last season have survived in the division they played in.

Incredible stat.

That's so interestingly boring that I just had to Google it to find out who they all were. They are:

Premier League: Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Huddersfield Town
Championship: Sheffield United, Bolton Wanderers, Millwall
League One: Portsmouth, Plymouth Argyle, Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool
League Two: Lincoln City, Forest Green Rovers
National League: AFC Fylde, Maidenhead United, Halifax Town, Ebbsfleet United

Didn't happen in Scotland, where poor old Brechin went up last year and got relegated without winning a single game!

I think we should take this as a warning for next season. The key word is complacency. Players get complacent, managers get complacent, recruitment teams get complacent.

Winning promotion plus the extra income from being a Prem player is a powerful motivational tool, and it is interesting that the three to come down have all been established in the Prem for several seasons. Swansea have lost their way but on paper West Brom and Stoke should have been comfortable in mid-table, Southampton too.
