On the Border
278 all out Broad finishes with 6 wickets, but a lead of only 29 when it should have been far more.

Same old Anderson/Broad thing.

Once they get taken off things get loose.

I hope I am not speaking too soon but we are now in a good position to build a winning total in this innings but the worry is the continued failure of Cook or are we waiting for his one big innings per series to happen again. He has been very good for us but should we be looking to say thanks and goodbye. Who could replace him?

Marcus Trescothick?

A left-handed opening batsman, he made his first-class debut for Somerset in 1993 and quickly established himself as a regular member of the team. Trescothick made his One Day International (ODI) debut seven years later, against Zimbabwe in July 2000. His Test debut, against the West Indies, followed in August.[2] Although former England captain Nasser Hussain likened Trescothick's build and batting temperament to that of Graham Gooch, his stroke play is more reminiscent of David Gower.[2]

An aggressive opener: as of March 2014 he holds the record for the most ODI centuries of any English player, and for the fastest half-century in English Twenty20 cricket.[3] Trescothick is also an accomplished slip fielder and occasional right-handed medium pace bowler who has kept wicket for England in five ODIs,[4] and deputised as England captain for two Test matches and ten ODIs.

Trescothick was an automatic choice for England between 2000 and 2006, before a stress-related illness threatened his career and forced him to pull out of the national squad.[5] He began the process of rebuilding his career with Somerset in 2007, and scored two double-centuries that season. However, he continued to remain uneasy about returning to international cricket,[6][7] and announced his retirement from internationals in March 2008, opting to continue playing at county level for Somerset.[8] Since then, media speculation has continued as to a possible international return – however, Trescothick has repeatedly voiced his intent to remain in retirement,[9] and has suffered recurrences of his condition in both 2008 and 2009 when Somerset toured abroad.[10][11] He nevertheless continues to play for Somerset, having signed a contract extension until the end of the 2018 season,[12] also working as a commentator and analyst for Sky Sports in the off-season.

Where is the next MARCUS TRESCOTHICK or ALISTAIR COOK ?

Looks more like a day 2 pitch. Need to bowl well to run through them.

The longest palindrome to ever appear on a Test cricket Scorecard is currently playing in South Africa. Thanks Andrew TMS.

I do not think that we will bowl them out on the last day as at least 1 or 2 will make a defiant score and it will fizzle out to a draw. We needed at least 1 wicket before the close of day 4.
