He's probably right - but only on reflection. Wonder how things might have worked out without the stamp.........

The player has had more than enough chances to claim his place and maybe now has to accept that the club's done an upgrade. No shame in that, happens to every player sooner or later. Even happened to Nicklas Bendtner...

Hemed would still be the elite player he considers himself to be in many of the leagues in Europe. Only not in this one.

Yeah, wish him well and he'll do a good job for someone - always gives 100%. Has had very few opportunities since his suspension though and he's way down the pecking order now. Even if we don't keep Ulloa we'll bring someone else in.

I was a little surprised he signed a new contract although it looks like a good move by the club given that he will most likely go for a decent fee in the summer.

He had no problem taking the increased sheckles on offer for his new contract though did he?

Joking aside I said when he signed it hat it was just a way of us protecting our right to seek a similar fee to that which we turned down in the summer for him if we stayed up or he didn’t make the grade.

Kind of shot himself in the foot for future Prem action by describing himself as a Championship promotion specialist too.

Still. I wish him well and luck wherever he ends up.

Perhaps he is right. I expect he is off in the summer with our best wishes.

Great pro, always give 100% and has a good relationship with the fans. Unfortunately, those three things aren't going to guarantee him a regular starting place in a Premier League team. I like him as a bloke and as a player, but he's down the pecking order for a reason.

Having said that he might (if in the squad) come off the bench on Saturday and score the winner!

He's a very good championship striker who's not quite good enough for the premier league. It'll be sad to see him go as he's been a model pro who has never failed to do his best for us and scored some important goals. That said he deserves to be playing regularly and he won't get that with us unless there are a number of injuries.

Funny how the door was open for him, in the side and scoring goals, then the ban, and Murray steps up. Even if we don't make Ulloa a permanent signing Hemed, would at best be third choice for next season without others coming in.

When he moves on, I'm sure he will be remembered well, and always welcomed back

To be honest, I don't think he's lost much (certainly not financially) by spending this last half season with us. We were always going to be looking for a striker upgrade in January, and it was a smart move by the club to give him a new contract because a).it should increase the fee we can get for him in the summer, and b).he will be great to have on the books if the worst should come to the worst.
Good luck to him in the Championship next season!

£9 Million offer from Reading? It seems crazy that we wouldn't have accepted that.

Under normal circumstances we would have done. Except all the Summer transfers that involved bringing in players that could score goals fell through for one reason or another. Bad news for the club, good news for the player. Had near enough a half-PL season to prove himself at this level. Except he couldn't make the step-up in grade. Oh well. We all move on.

It doesn't. We started the season with only one fit striker -- Hemed. Him being moved on then was always contingent on us getting sufficient strikers in. We didn't manage that then. We have now, so I'm also a tad surprised that he didn't go towards the end of the January window; Reading wouldn't have been willing to stump up so much cash then, because their game then was all about survival, but there's no reason why Championship clubs at the right end of the table wouldn't have been interested.
