We have done holland america, celebrity, Rccl msc, p and o, Cunard queen Elizabeth, Victoria and a few more.

Some charge about £20 each for the meal and drinks and Cunard is £50 each

It will give you a good idea and a good day out

The TVs is on the wall facing the bed. Normally you have all the min channels, lots of overseas ones, all the kids channels, and some have play station/ xboxes. But there is so much for the kids to do, and of course it is safe, so parents will tell you they hardly see their kids apart from at meal times

Did our first cruise last summer. Not sure it’s something I’d do repeatedly (very obvious that there is a large cohort of ‘regulars’) but really enjoyed it (I was very sceptical beforehand). Felt like a series of nice city mini-breaks without having to change hotels, visited some fascinating places. Plenty to do on board, great food, decent entertainment, very comfy and spacious suite with a big balcony, good service throughout.

I wonder how many of those on this thread who are critical of cruising on ship like this have never been on one?

Or, can we find someone who has cruised a ship like this that agree it’s awful. I doubt it.......

I ever so slightly biased the original post against cruising, but you can't deny if there wasn't a market for such a behemoth then clearly they wouldn't exist.

Sadly I seem to have run into more trouble with the people of Lesser Sussex, their inferiority complex, and lack of understanding of place.

Is there a way of booking these visits or seeing when they are available? I did one years ago when I was briefly a travel agent and had a great time.

If you've come off the boat, you're unlikely to notice but they are a blot on the landscape for the ports they visit.

Everyone's going to walk around Croydon with virtual reality masks on thinking they're in Barcelona.

No need to bother with more shit cladding and a crap new stand, just let everyone put on their masks and they'll think they're in the camp nou watching the real deal.

I bet some of the ships are amazing and looking round one would be interesting. But why would I want to be stuck on one for days instead of being in a nice town or city with culture and variety?

If such a flat was available, the view would always be the same. These virtual balconies are full height 4k screens that transmit live views from cameras placed around the ship. They can also transmit the noise from the sea.

They are no match for a real balcony but are fantastic for those who wish to save some money on a more expensive balcony cabin.

All cruise lines have inside rooms, even the glamour lines of yesteryear. I think the virtual balcony is a great development and I suspect we will see them on other cruise lines soon as well.

I don't think those living in a penthouse feel that it's always the same. The light constantly changes, people and birds move about outside etc.

So your fake balcony moves to different locations around the ship, making it even less realistic? You could do the same with your penthouse, it's now North, East, South and West facing, depending what you fancy.
