No sir no no, it has been barstadised to Martha - any Brightonian will tell you it’s Matha. Which is actually Scandinavian which ties in with settlers at the time of her birth.

I've lived here for 43 years and not heard such discussion. The name is known- most likely because of historical references in places. It was the first pub I had a pint in.
