Didn’t he score a couple on his debut for the u23s? He doesn’t seem to have started a game since until tonight for some reason?

Yep he was class that night , a few of my family were there and they said he was just different quality on the night .

He scored one, had an assist and hit the woodwork. It was against Sunderland on Jan 19 and was actually his full debut, having played as a sub against Reading 11 days before.

He also came on as a sub up at Hull a week ago.

Fantastic performance against a Blackburn team seemingly running away with the league, bodes well for the future:albion:

An excellent result against the Division Two leaders who had only one defeat before tonight.

Albion have won six successive matches in all competitions with a goal difference of 16-1.

Gyokeres certainly seems to have made a big impression since signing. Would be great to see if one of the u23’s have the ability to step up. Shame this game wasn’t a couple of days ago, then we may have seen a couple on the bench or even start tomorrow.

Nonetheless, encouraging to see there may just be a bit of quality in the younger ranks. For decades, we've had such a poor record of producing anything other than centre halves (and even in their case, few have gone on to what you'd call better things, though Dunk presumably will do at some stage). How great it would be to see a whole string of home-grown players breaking through.

The centre half list really is impressive, though. In the space of just a few years, Dunk, Cook, Elphick, Lynch, Hall have all had decent careers at Championship level and higher.
