He is stupid though.

He probably is, yes.

But in itself, spunking £2.5m of somebody else's money, isn't stupid to him.

If it pays off, it embellishes his CV and confirms his hefty survival bonus.
If not then somebody else loses a tonne of cash

Unbelievable, I didn't realised he had done that. Henry and Souness played at the highest level, played at world cups and won a stack of major club honours. Personally I like their honest and cutting insight.

What can the specialist in losing club matches, Pardew, offer?

Dancing lessons ???

Looks like they need top 6 form in their last 11 matches now 20 points from 11 games, as Pardew would say on SKY that's a BIG ask

The Sturridge deal is a gamble, reports are his loan fee was 2.5 Million, his is being paid 200K a week by WB. I make that about 5 million, if he doesn't keep you up it is lost money.

Were they behind this deal that may look bad if he is out injured long term.

I think you need to take those figures with a pinch of salt. Apparently he is on £120k at Liverpool and I would imagine that WBA would not have paid him more than that. It's a massive gamble but not a £5 million gamble.

This, as I'd said yesterday. LFC paid him £120k according to the media, and they also said WBA are meeting that in full.

The £200k a week is some bizarre rounding up by exaggerators?

I think actually once, when asked about whether he favoured either team in a match, he pointed out the palace socks he was wearing.

Quality punditry. NOT.

West Brom have problems with FFP. I've read that their wage bill is huge and they've struggled to make permanent signings because of it. Think transfers have been mismanaged over a few seasons to get them where they are now.

The wage bill is indeed relatively big to our size but we are debt free so it's not a doomsday situation. We are at the limit of FFP but so are many clubs. Newly promoted clubs like yourselves have more room at first within the rules.

That's not to say we haven't mismanaged the money spent in terms of squad building.

Absolutely not. The club is doing what any club would do with a situation where a player is innocent until proven guilty. Richard Garlick is on the board and the legal whizz who will be advising the club with the situation and he survived the cull.

Seen loads of WBA fans saying a big reason was giving Pulis a 2 year deal in the summer. But didn't Pulis deserve it? He got a mid-table finish which was the 'target' so why wouldn't you sort a new contract?

We were awful from March onwards last year. This time last year we were 8th and pushing Everton for 7th. Then we picked up 1 win and about 6 points between then and end of season. Rewarding that with a new contract was a huge mistake.
