Albion boss Chris Hughton says a draw at Stoke felt like two points dropped - despite Mathew Ryan's late penalty save preserving a point.

The Seagulls were good value for the lead provided by Jose Izquierdo at the bet365 Stadium and had chances on the break either side of Xherdan Shaqiri's second half equaliser for the hosts.

Hughton said: "At this moment we feel like it's probably two points dropped, against a good Stoke side, who are in good form. I thought we had the better chances, but in a player like Xherdan Shaqiri, there's always that quality to get a goal."

Stand tall that man from the village that is, and always will be the village of The Six Bells Public House, because The match of the day should always be the best till last.

My only disappointment was the manner in which we sat back again 2nd half and allowed them to dictate play so that an equalizer was inevitable from the 46th minute. Not if they got it but when and that could be our downfall.

Completely ignoring the fact they were playing a 4-2-4 formation.

Don't think we sat back at all. Constantly looked for a second - but couldn't get one. They pushed right forward and had a 4 man front line - it wasn't us sitting back in my view.

Should have won but could have lost, happy with an away point, but shame Propper and Gross didn't do better with their opportunities.
If they had, then we wouldn't have had to worry about the penalty incident.
That said, we did clam up a bit in the 2nd half but not as much as we usually do, so happy with a point.

Totally agree with the missed opportunities there Mike, but clam? Didn't see that yesterday, not like Southampton?

Read the report! Maty the midge pulled off a great save and Dunky cleared the loose ball, absolutely no 'LUCK' there just skilled players who don't get the appreciation they deserve ( from some on here)
and knocky cleared a header off the line:facepalm:
