There are some absolutely shite ones out there at the moment.

I think the two that make me most want to punch my telly are a) the purple bricks one, at the wedding where the father of the bride fancies himself as an even less funny version of John Clees, and b) We buy any car - their stomach churning homage to Phillip Schofield.

Both terrible. I probably wouldn't use either company as a direct consequence of these. Ever.

Have adverts always been as crap as this, in your opinion?

I agree with you on both of these, many more as well. I now tend to record or catch up programmes on commercial channels so that I can fast forward adverts.

I’m with you on the Purple Bricks one, it’s so ******* irritating, I just want the Groom to stand up and throat punch him. The Rob Brydon/P&O Ferries one is unbearable also

While I’m in a mood to moan about adverts, the one that winds me up at the moment is some chewing gum advert where a young lady is sitting on a bus minding her own business, chews some breath freshening teeth whitening gum and a bloke gets on at the next stop and although the bus is totally empty, chooses to sit right next to her and just smile, not say a word ...

No one has complained or mentioned how creepy it is ....

I bet if I tried it, the poor young lass would be totally weirded out.

The one I hate the most is that effing Clearscore.com one where the bloke spends his life checking his credit score while his talking boxer dog asks him what he's doing. Makes me want to throw the TV out of the window

Throwing TVs out the window just isn't so easy these days without a tube. Bring back TVs with tubes!

That coffee one where he has everyone he has ever met in a big auditorium (including a section called girlfriends!). Then the ones he has lost touch with join him for a coffee

Nauseating
Was the first one to spring to my mind. Also the Rob Brydon ones for cruises because I just don't get the point - why not just get any old person to do it if he's not going to even be funny? And all the gambling ones that try to make internet casinos look like mystic palaces of sophistication and daring.

Also I'm not sure if it counts but Paul Merson shilling for Sky Bets seems spectacularly ill-judged.

We watch very little tele with adverts. If we do watch it we will record and flick through them. I could not bring myself to watch Vera as it is a 71 year old woman playing a police detective. That seems impossible.

Not TV so I may well be venting in the wrong place, but adverts at the cinema have been somewhat getting my goat recently.

We only have one cinema within a 25 mile radius, which is a Vue. They have these ****ing ludicrous adverts right before the film going "THIS IS NOT JUST A ****ING CINEMA, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR ****ING LIFE M8", and has all these artistic shots of a cup of ****ing coke and blares out this horrendous noise to demonstrate that it's in DOLBY SURROUND SOUND or some bullshit that nobody ****ing cares about. I wouldn't expect a message telling you the end of the world was three minutes away to be as intense and 'EPIC', let alone going to watch a ****ing film.

This has been pissing me off for quite a while so I stopped going there on principle, but my three-year-old was desperate to watch Paddington 2 the other week and I assumed they wouldn't do this for kid's films (or at least wouldn't make it as stupidly ****ing loud) so I took him along, but nope, turns out they do it for kids films as well. Had to take him out with my hands over his ears until the bullshit had ended. Pointless crock of shite. **** Vue.

I would suggest NEVER using Purple Bricks anyway. They are a terrible company.

I've aways refused to use GoCompare, purely because their adverts are so irritating.

Another one which annoys me is McDonalds. There's something about that stupid little tune* they play at the end which really gets my goat. They also seem to be trying to market themselves as a health restaurant. You don't go to McDonalds to eat carrot sticks FFS.

*Incidentally the words "stupid little tune" fit perfectly in the stupid little tune.

You're on to something about adverts being worse than ever.

There is nothing which is not annoying about the above video. It is absolutely perfect in it's ability to grind my gears.

The really annoying one looks like Sue Perkins too .

I don’t know why as Sue Perkins doesn’t really bother me , but it adds to my hatred of this advert even more .
