As a Tory councillor helpfully explains, this was never about Anti Semitism in the Labour Party it was just another excuse to smear the Labour Party and leader ahead of the council elections

so you deny what other voices in the Labour Party are saying, or concerns raised in Chakrabarti Inquiry? they're doing it for the Tory party are they?

Would you care to point out any instances of anti semitism that have occurred in the last 3 months that have caused this explosion of outrage ???

Would it make any difference? Even the Dear Leader has acknowledged antisemitism has been on the increase in the Labour Party.

Labour MP's, Labour party members, the Jewish community all say there is a problem .. what's your threshold for acknowledging there is a problem?

Jeremy Corbyn has also now apologized on a number of occasions for anti semitism within the laour party. Are you saying that JC is really a Tory mole that was placed in the party over 35 years ago to help win a local election in the future?

How about this zinger, fresh from the oven? Stan Keable, expelled from the party for anti-Semitism but still a senior figure in both Labour against the Witch-hunt and Jewish Voice for Labour. He's been recorded yesterday telling a protester that anti-Semitism didn't cause the Holocaust and Zionists collaborated with the Nazis.

Is this evidence enough?

Sadly I agree that the 'core' Labour (you/Ernie plus a few others on NSC) corbynistas will pay no attention to the upsurge of antisemitism in the Labour party which is why it will continue and probably get worse . The fact you seem to view this as a virtue/positive is rather sad.

A couple of things - 1) The positive is that the cynical use of the hysteria being whipped up, will not work. 2) The perceived 'upsurge' is precisely that, perceived. Clearly, Corbyn has no choice but to respond.

Finally, what is it precisely about anti-semitism that upsets many on here to a far great degree than, let's grab an example, the rampant misogyny on this board and elsewhere?

Call me a sentimental fool but seeing photos of what happened the last time anti-Semitism went unchecked makes me a tad uneasy.

Also, Tony Bloom is of that persuasion so it's in every Brighton fan's best interests to make sure he doesn't jack it all in and move to Australia.

But mainly it's the Holocaust thing.

You've posted a tweet from Jewish Voice of Labour that he undoubtedly had a hand in drafting.

To all intents and purposes he's still part of the Labour Party when useful idiots like you unwittingly keep him relevant.

The thing is they see Corbyn as the solution when in fact he's the problem.

Anti-Semitism is exploding across the political spectrum, especially on the political right and this includes T May allowing the Al Quds march, its rampant on centre right groups on social media. Why the left is in denial isn't much of a mystery, millions of voters imported with an anti-Semitic culture.

Yea you've got reason imo to be uneasy.

1) People who attempt to dismiss concerns by Labour MP's, Labour party members and the Jewish community as 'hysteria' are part of the problem and complicit in allowing antisemitism to grow.

2.) The Jewish Labour Movement say there is a 'vast backlog' of complaints. The implication being Corbyn is only going through the motions and doesn't think there is a problem.

Good grief ....

A statement from Jewish Labour members on the current attacks on Jeremy Corbyn

[updated at 22.40]

We are Jews in the Labour Party currently actively campaigning for Labour in local elections. We are appalled by the actions and statements of the Board of Deputies. They do not represent us or the many Jews in the Party who share Jeremy Corbyn’s vision for social justice and fairness. Jeremy’s consistent commitment to anti-racism is all the more needed now.

As the British people call time on May and the Tories, they are getting more desperate. We would hope that any organisation claiming to represent Jews would be calling them to account when, to cite two examples in the last two months, the Prime Minister‘s ex Chief of Staff uses a national newspaper to dredge up an antisemitic conspiracy theory, and Havering Conservative party issues a dogwhistle leaflet hoping to mobilise racism in their local election campaign. The Board of Deputies has been silent on both. It also says nothing on the global rise of the far right and the toxic anti-immigrant rhetoric of the tabloid press, despite the imperative from Jewish history to speak out against racism and fascism.

The Board of Deputies and those supporting them must be aware that this is an attempt to influence local elections and has nothing to do with the real and necessary task of challenging racism and anti-semitism at all levels of political life. We call on them to stop playing politics and start representing what our community needs. We believe that is best represented by the politics we fight for and hope to see win on May 3rd.

I think this is really unfair. The Party has expelled him. Corbyn has no control over these othe groups neither does the Party. There is a huge backlog of complaints in the Party which is entirely due to the Right having abused the system to keep members from being eligible to vote for Corbyn.

One of the things that really concerns me at the moment across the political spectrum is abuse of process and the rule of law. The Labour Party does need to deal with anti-semetism, having said I’d never come across it I had to report someone for it yesterday (and came up against some staggering ignorance where he was unaware that what he was saying was hugely anti-Semitic). He’ll be suspended and wait 18 months for a hearing when he’ll be expelled and people will moan about how long it took and how Corbyn doesn’t take it seriously when the whole system is bunged up by people who have abandoned decency (for want of better word) and think that winning at all and any cost is what matters.
