The group of death, the competition needs seeding, some WHCs will be going out too early

It's been a blistering day of voting in what has already been dubbed by some of you as the Group of Death. Group B has already outstripped voting for Group A, despite the polls opening half a day later. Passions have clearly been inflamed by this hugely competitive group, with one of the big beasts all but certain to fall at the first hurdle. The Croc and Hippo seem safe and the Grasshopper Mouse is showing the fighting spirit which has made it such a WHC hero. Below that a Battle Royale appears to be developing between the Mantis Shrimp and the Orca but it's still early days.
And look at that slug go. Nobody has bothered to say exactly why it is hard yet but such is life.
This group has led to much angst and requests for seeding in future tournaments. Not wishing to traumatise you all but I reckon Group C is every bit as much of a ding dong but then none of us come here to watch a procession, do we?
Hopefully Group C will appear later tomorrow evening and the defending champion will be entering the arena for the first time.

I voted Mouse, but that Hippo in the first post, is the meanest looking Hippo I ever saw.

Having ground the Sun Bear, Cape Buffalo and Elephant Seal into the dirt, the West Sussex Slug is now neck and neck with the Colossal Squid - what a debut!

Voting enters it's final phase for the first of two Groups of Death. The Croc has shown its class so far and looks to have too much for the rest. The Hippo is probably secure and just holding off the challenge of the highly fancied Grasshopper Mouse. The final place is currently the Orca's and former champion, the Mantis Shrimp is in danger of falling at the group stage. Final votes please...

I'm going to give a brief defence of the mantis shrimp. Ever since he beat the honey badger a few years back the H.B fanboys have mounted a continuous negative campaign to blacken his name.
It's a shame that this has happened because the mantis shrimp is a terrific competitor. Here's some facts to sway anyone who hasn't voted yet:
It attacks its prey with two claws that hit out at a speed that equates to a bullet fired from a rifle hitting their victims with a force of 1500newtons.. If humans could move their arms at just 1/10th of that speed we could throw a ball into orbit. THINK ABOUT THAT for a second. Think about the power.
They hit with such speed and force they boil the water around them, create shock waves that have enough force to kill their victim(so you're ****ed even if their claws miss you) and create bursts of light. They are Zeus made crustaceous...they control the thunder and lightning.
They EVISCERATE their prey. They SMASH their prey. They DISMEMBER their prey.
Their limbs are so resilient researchers are studying them and trying to unlock their secrets to make advanced body armour for humans.
Aquariums don't keep mantis shrimps because they kill everything else in the tank...
And hit so hard that they can smash the glass in the tank and ESCAPE.
That's why the Mantis Shrimp should be in the knock out rounds. But he won't make it because bitter honey badger hipsters are still pissing their pants that badgy lost the final to the shrimp.
Shame.
