UPS and Generators are dated solutions now.

The cloud approach with resilience in each DC and redundancy over multiple sites, and yes, at least two independent power supplies into each DC.
Hell, even the 1960's DC at Rolls Royce [Derby] has two direct power lines in from two separate power stations.

Rebuilding tables @maffew - gosh, an Oracle array over two sites negates that risk - what a ball-ache running logs to recover that mess.

As others have said, it's all about cost and many shirk at the full cost of proper Disaster Recovery, never mind Business Continuity.

For me, I spell it out to CFOs and CEOs, consider the cost of failure, and decide what an appropriate insurance premium against that would be & that's the cost of DR.

Slightly off topic, has anyone ever accompanied a skirt-wearing colleague in to a cold-aisle data centre .... and not warned them?
