Bread sauce really is the shittest condiment though. It just looks like someone's chewed up some bread and spat it out into a jug.

Egg and chips with bread and butter. Fish and chips with bread and butter, fry up with bread a d butter....but with roast its bread and no butter (tp mop up the gravy)

could well be also...my nan was a staunch Irish Proddy and i remember her dishing out the bread and butter on fridays
