We have been at the Amex now what 7 years, how many other clubs have caused trouble/damage here and around the town, let alone twice. As for trashing Palace toilets, surely that would have been hard to do, are you sure the fans were not trying to clean them up?

Some stewards valiantly doing their job, for which total respect. Others just standing by just thinking 'F*** me, I'm not getting paid enough to get involved in THIS' while the vermin just stroll into the ground. Just won't do

To be fair, they're unprotected ground stewards, not riot police. As Sussex Police have confirmed, these idiots had knives and knuckle dusters.
I don't blame them for standing by when they were so massively outnumbered.

Maybe they purchased a rail ticket to Falmer, no law against that
quire correct there is no law against it and i believe in the rights of people regarding for example free rights of movement and freedom of speech whatever
However groups of mostly teens wearing black/hoodies getting a train(s) to Falmer just before kick off of a Brighton Palace game when the police are meant to be on high alert would raise alarm bells for me, it's not like it would have looked like a pub quiz team or going to a business meeting or something going to the Swan is it? Just my opinion. Lessons to be learnt from this they should never have got to the stadium in the first place

This footage only goes to cement where the blame lies for tuesday night's events. All the Palace and other fans bleating on to the FSF about being treated animals should have a good look at those prats and see why this happens.
The Amex is a great environment to watch football and treats REAL fans with respect, and in most cases that respect is returned.
Parish has to sort his little friends out and be seen to publically do so. Vermin indeed......

Yes, absolutely. I'm no expert in crowd control but given a 2,000-strong mob that includes people with explosives and weapons, my inclination would be to try and contain the problem as best I could and ensure film footage is taken, which was always going to be the case at a modern football stadium.
Wading in not only risks injury to police and stewards but also innocent supporters in the away end who wanted nothing to do with the moronic Ultras.
My priority would be to ensure the tooled-up idiots are kept apart from the home supporters, and that objective seems to have been achieved.
So clearly lessons to learn from freak events like this one but I'm not criticising the way things were handled regarding the people who were already inside the ground.

Chief Inspector Simon Nelson said it was the worst example of disorder and violent behaviour he had experienced in 12 years as match commander and said away supporters "attempted to enter the ground with pyrotechnics, knives and knuckledusters, which were found following efforts to gain access through fire exit doors in the south stand".

I love the way every report says 'attempted to enter the ground'. They DID enter the ground.

It will be interesting to see how many get charged with carrying an offensive weapon. I wonder what other clubs will do regards Palace away support .

If you are kettled with 300 (say) other people, do you (a) keep the knife in your pocket and hope you don't get found, or (b) drop the knife on the floor? Easy for the items to be found not on someone.
Excellent post! To be honest, if I could drive from Faversham to the Amex, get on a coach that took me to outside the shitehole dog toilet, to be safely escorted in and out of the ground, and driven back to the Amex, I would seriously consider revisiting Croydon. I would be perfectly happy to have their support at the Amex if they were bussed in and out by the same protocol.

There are often plenty of students getting on/off trains at Falmer on a match day, many of them where hoodies, besides how would you know if they had tickets or not, was there anytime in the last 7 years when a large number of fans arrived at the Amex ticketless, in fact this issue did not happen in the previous 3 matches against them. With life there are many things which happen which are not foreseen, only afterwards lessons are learnt.
