My son is going to be mascot, and I'm hoping they allow a small string bag with his boots in! I've emailed the mascot coordinator but am yet to receive a reply. Surely there must be some leeway for situations such as this?

After seeing your post I fired off an email to United's Customer Services. Julie replied that there shouldn't be a problem taking a phone charger in as long as it easily fits into a pocket. My charger is about the size of a fag packet so should pass muster at the checkpoint. I have her email as backup in case I meet a jobsworth
