People who have Iranian citizenship and parents living there.

One other point of detail not included in this story is that British citizens with dual nationality do not get any diplomatic assistance from the U.K. Government in the country in which they share nationality (see travelling abroad).

Case closed........the media and all the pant wetters can step down, this woman’s fate in her native country is not our problem.

However average Mrs May is, let's all remember the possible alternative of a snap election and labour gaining power with Corbyn getting in, would be a nightmare scenario for our country. An extremist Marxist like Corbyn in charge, would ruin our economy, cause massive inflation, interest rates would rise rapidly, millions of homeowners would be at risk of default on their mortgages and we would be much more exposed to terrorism and Corbyn has opposed almost all measures taken to make our country more secure against terrorists.

I had no issue with Labour as a party previously, but now it has been highjacked by extremist Marxist types, the once decent Labour Party has become a laughing stock , supported mainly
By anarchists, communists, the workshy, socialist workers, trade unions ,silly naive students and of course Corbyn's favourite Islamists

Well, many think it is. And we're happy for it to be.

This country is crying out for a real strong leader who has,Direction, strategy and real leadership qualities....sadly we have nothing anywhere near this.

Agree about the Maggie comments :)

Keir Starmer should be the leader of the Labour Party. I've met him, and know of his work. Mind you, a Labour vote in my constituency would be wasted.

Sure, ex pat Iranians seeing their family in Iran.

That is the purpose of her leave from work though isn’t it, it’s not the same as going on holiday?

I’ve been to Australia on holiday, and I didn’t see members of my family that live there.........maybe one day I will decide to do that, and if that is my primary purpose for going to Australia it won’t be a holiday, it will be to see family.

Are you really nitpicking about the definition of holiday?

With regard to Boris, my perspective is that he was a threat to May but by putting him the Foreign Office, she was setting him up to fail, which he is accomplishing. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is merely collateral damage in a power game in the conservative party!

She wasn’t on holiday for starters, she was taking her child to see her family and who knows what their story is?

She wasn’t at her place of work obviously so was on holiday leave, but she wasn’t on “holiday”. Who the f*ck goes on holiday in Iran?

I would and have had holidays in Saudi Arabia and Syria.

who's the best of a bad bunch?

If Corbyn goes we're still left with a hesitant PM and a troublesome Foreign Sec. Corbyn is harmless all the time there are a few years until the next election - then the ammunition on him will really come out.

Like her or not Maggie would have formed a cabinet on her own rather than appoint anyone who didn't support her.

agree on Boris's position. however, i think the position of Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe has more to do with the power politics in Iran, people seem to be overlooking her situation began in April 2016. ironically the furore may help her, with a much larger profile than before.

TM knows that in many peoples eyes Boris will be the next PM

To whom do these eyes belong of which you speak? Seriously? Because I read plenty of conservatives who dislike the man, let alone anyone left of centre.

Nasty piece of work.

On the plus side, allegedly Boris Johnson's father has apparently touched down in Oz, for I'm a celebrity.
That'll give him something more to cringe on.

She should fire him, he's an embarrassment to us and the eyes of the world looking in.
Apparently he is going to arrange a meet with the husband of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.
Climb down or what!

This a million times over. The guy is an utter disgrace, when you think of his predecessors in that office and the idiot he is. I’m embarrassed to be British. Not only is he rank incompetent he’s a berk too. Ok, he’s alright to present HIGNFY from a fun perspective (and that got him major of London) But Foreign Sec? Jo Brand, Alexander Armstrong etc would be better in office than he would and they’re not serious candidates either. How Boris Johnson got near to being a politician is a damning indictment of the state of UK politics today. No shame. No credibility and certainly no leader.

I suppose Jeremy Cornyn with his offshore tax dealings and his love of the Venezuelan model is the man to govern our nation. I think we are f**ked either way.

He seems to be. My father and brother have been to see me and class it as a holiday. Maybe it is work, and extremely hard work at that, if cunning fergus is a family member?

I'm starting to wonder if there isn't a lot more about this Iranian incident than any of us are aware. I cannot see why they would take her in the first place. Was she just unlucky to have been 'picked' out of all the many other travelers between the UK and Iran or was there something else? As for Johnson and Gove, maybe there was something. Why would Boris come out with the training comment when it had never been mentioned before? He may be a loose cannon, but if this was completely made up it would be unusual. As for Gove, it appeared watching him talk this morning that he wasn't willing to say outright what she was doing there. As soon as Marr mentioned a holiday he straight away said that 'if that's what her husband said then I support him completely'. I think we'll get more coming out of this story soon.

I know we don't know the whole story, its just if one of my relatives were in a foreign jail, I would not expect our Foreign Secretary to actively make their flight worse.
