I know the difference between going on holiday and going home to see my family.

Both are enjoyable, but also different........this woman was in Iran to see her family, that why she wasn’t with her husband.

holiday

1often holidaysAn extended period of leisure and recreation, especially one spent away from home or in travelling.

Seems like she was on holiday to me? Or up to no good.

Thankfully the greatest part of the time spent between the end of WW2 and now has been spent under a Tory government, long may it continue.

I think you'll find the word is 'shittist'. Soon may (geddit??) it end.

Burka-tastic, I guess public stoning and beheading provide some interesting insights in local culture........I wonder how Cliff Mitchelmore would have described those?

Good luck with that.

We are not usually on the same wavelength but I agree with you. Ditto some years ago on holiday in Portugal, because 'it was there'... I found myself at a bull fight...wtf???

I rememeber strikes being called because Leyland had the audacity to sack ‘workers” who were sleeping on the night shift.

The proble with so many on the left is that they never want to admit that the unions were part of the problem. They should be there to protect workers rights, but not be used to for political ambition, not to hold the country to ransom and get unfair wages.

I see that the Southern strike is over after they got 24% (I believe) staggered pay rises over 5 years. Hmm, so much to customer safety and wanting guards on trains.

If you noticed, I was equally scathing of both Tories and Labour leaders. You, on the other hand, will never admit any left failures.

The drivers of ASLEF on Southern have accepted a 24% staggered pay rise and the guarantees from Southern that there will always be a second safety trained person on all trains except for exceptional circumstances. I believe the RMT dispute goes on as they have not received the level of guarantee regarding a second safety critical staff member on trains. Oh, they were offered a bribe to back down and then threatened with legal action when the bribe was rejected.

As for your last sentence I do struggle to find something in the context of your rant that indicates that " The Left " has made major failures. Bear in mind that by " The Left " I mean The Labour Party who are hardly left wing in the pantheon of global socialism. The Labour party are not about to abolish the Monarchy, nationalise the banks or tax people on £40k 97% Income Tax or whatever. However, they do want social justice, workers rights and money spent on improving health, education and social care. Please tell me if those ideals are wrong ? Do you have something against children ? Do you not want your children and grandchildren to be given a better education than yourself ? Even you would benefit now or in the future from investment in health and social care, can you not see this ?

Well they are all wrong.

Little wonder that countries like Iran act they way they do with Britain when neo imperialists people like you think we can interfere with how they treat their own citizens.

She is Iranian and was arrested in Iran, which is unfortunate for her British husband but the Iranians don’t recognise dual nationality status. The days of Gunboat democracy are over Mr Palmerstone.

:ffsparr:

So a person who calls for another nation to be just and, if necessary, to give someone an open and fair trial, based on transparent evidence, is a 'neo-imperialist' ?

Who knows, but it strikes me that by leaving Iran taking British citizenship after marrying a Briton and then returning back to Iran she was spinning the roulette wheel.

People who leave North Korea don’t go back on holiday there or to see their family. The Iranian regime is closer to North Korea than western democracies.

Come on, do your little thing where you ignore what been written and make a personal insult in broken German. We can then all finish up for the day.

Some good material to get you started as to why people go on holiday to Iran. And that's before you even take into account being born there and having family live there

Oh sure, everyone is going on holiday to Iran, Americans, Brits, Israelis...........everyone.

Yawn.

Sure, these young adventurers will be telling us Afghanistan is a decent spot for a summer break shortly..........like wow, it’s really untouched, and like primitive, yeah, I can’t tell you how life affirming it was while eating sheeps eyes with one hand because my other hand was covered in shit.

There are 2 links on this thread from HM Govt, one I sent which explains why HM Govt cannot provide any diplomatic services to British citizens with dual nationality in their native country, plus another warning by HM Govt to British citizens with Iranian nationality, NOT to travel to Iran.

What are you not understanding about this?

Bleating on about the nasty Iranians will not set her free, she is f*cked, as are the other 3 dual British Iranians also in prison in Iran.

She was warned by the HM Govt, she would have known the risks she was taking, sad as it is she’s made her bed.

I’m not in the echo chamber, that’s all..........otherwise it’s fun, I think there are already some mattresses propped up against the box room radiators tonight. I suspect after a bout of furious ************ some of the Herbert’s on here will be on to something else like Grenfel, expensive housing or white poppies soon enough.

You’d be a good one to talk about that. Please let us know how’s the ‘Strong And Stable’ situation in Germany with Mutti Merkel. That was another fine example of you being “Finger on the pulse” again  .

It's fine here, why? I'm not aware of Merkel's party ripping itself apart, the leader being constantly undermined and scared to do a thing. I'm just seeing a nation going through its usual political process. It's quite boring to be honest.

If you say so - nice to know that there’s stability there in the planning for the next government. Still don’t know which parties are forming the government or if there’ll be fresh elections. Far from Strong And Stable - but you’ll never admit you’re wrong.
