The away leg would have given him a lot more material to work with.Cant believe we got the tube back alive

We did have a mounted police escort with the police in full riot gear.

There was a minor one (for its day) when a bloke tried to get at Micky Small and also think they made a mild effort to get on the pitch.

I remember one whole block in the north stand towards to north west was given over to millwall fans as well as all around the ground...there was loads of them by us in the east terrace, although to be fair they were ok , not causing any problems around us.

It was insane, wasn't it. Cars being smashed up, and 2,000 or so very nervous Albion fans. Fair play then to the 1,500 or so of us who returned to the Den a few months later, the night of the Beeney take down of that little Millwall git who tried to attack John Robinson. Good days!

Two of my all-time favourite away games!

These play-offs were probably two of the most electrifying games of football I have ever been to, I really can not see the atmosphere ever reaching the same levels again.
I remember a skinhead getting out on to the pitch from the east stand and the old bill frog marching him across in front of the north stand and he was trying to give us loads of abuse he wanted to take the whole stand on.The North stand were loving the banter!
Marvellous scenes.

There's a six-part spin-off series set in the present day (25 years on from the 1992 original) currently in production in Melbourne ;

Was there a pictch invasion at the 4-1 game? I can't remember one.

There was a mini one from the North Stand for at least 2 of the goals and an attempt from a toothless mental Millwall fan to get to us from the East. Plus quite a few Millwall in the North. Interesting day all round but brilliant football from the Albion at times.

That team was nails, Micky Small confronting them and Beeney running them in the return leg :lolol:

Fair enough the crowd might've been ugly, but the match?

I have great memories of that day – Mark Barham lashing home an equaliser just before halftime, and then the incredible, almost surreal, start to the second half, when we seemed to score every other minute. I still have a mental image of glancing over to the Millwall fans as Robert Codner ran onto Mike Small's flick, and laughing as they visibly seethed with despair – you just knew he was about to slot home a fourth goal, it was a unforgettable 20 minutes of football.

You forgot 'Flash' Walker tearing them a new one to the constant chant of 'sex case, sex case, hang him, hang him, hang him'. Barely escaping with his life after nearly falling in the away seats in the south!

They just don't make days like that any more - Epic.

Was listening to Russell Crowe on 6music on and off yesterday, so didn't notice this.

I think the pitch invasion was Millwall jumping over the barriers of the east stands, and then going back. Reminds me of the Hypia Millwall game, when they were held back by the "cloth" of the south stand.

A great day though. I remember going to the club shop to get my ticket for the 2nd leg (no booking fee), getting the odd stare from 'Wall fans, then heading over to the County Ground to see Sussex

The little twunt booted Robinson up the 'ariss. I seem to remember Beeny charging from his goal, grabbing the scote by the scruff of his neck and the belt of his jeans, and literally HURLING him at the nearest copper on the touchline.

Our coach got bricked on the way back. Great night.
