I assume if Northants win that with max points Notts need to win here and hope Worcestershire lose or draw

No, even if Notts don't get three wickets in the next 11 overs, max batting points and a draw will still get them promoted ... but if they fail to reach 400, then Notts would either need to win or hope Northants don't get maximum points.

Nerves are going to creep in for Notts as well

From the BBC website about who may play us next year

If teams finish level on points, most wins determines placing, then fewest defeats, then most points from head-to-head results, then most wickets taken, then most runs scored.

I'm looking into the future here...

If Middlesex are out for less than 200 and lose to Somerset, they will finish on 146 points.

Somerset would have 147 and survive.

If Hampshire lose at Warwickshire, but take exactly six points from the match, they will also finish on 146 points.

But Lancashire and Hampshire will have won, drawn and lost exactly the same number of matches this season.

With the exception of us and Derbyshire, there are lots of wickets and ridiculously low scores everywhere, even for games being played in late September:

Essex 227 all out and Yorks 90/6;
Surrey 201/8 dec and Lancs 84/5;
Somerset 236 and Middx 127/8;
Warks 79/5;
Kent 302 and Glam 101/5;
Leics 97/8;
Worcs 204/6.

Somewhat bowler friendly conditions!

Perhaps the Notts bowlers have heard the score from Grace Road

Leicestershire are 55 for 7

I think Northants might struggle to get maximum batting points if this pitch is one where Leic can lose 7 wickets for 50, although of course Leics are shocking

Stokes is on that on field warning that means he gets banned if he gets another - so Q maximum sledging from the Aussies in every game out there. Wonder if he will just get banned because of this.

Odd figures for Hutton.

9 of his 27 overs have been maidens.

The other 18 have been tanked for 100
