If Krul had played we would have kept a cleansheet yesterday...

Can't open that at work, what's the tweet from the highly reliable Andy Naylor?

The same Andy Naylor that claims Newcastle fans were expecting a European placed finish to the season because of our decent start, despite that being unmitigated horse shit. :lolol:

Just a Rafa quote

Rafa on Krul's move: "He knew our decision. They announce now but we knew before: I wish him all the best. We have enough keepers." #bhafc

Great news, pity we wasted one of our loans in the short-term though.

Interesting... so just to confirm what the board said... we DEFINITELY planned to loan a goal keeper all along huh...?

Does anyone else find this a bit odd? He was here for a year anyway and is now only on a one year deal. This meant we had used our 2nd loan slot on deadline day and couldn't use it for a striker. I recognise this opens up a slot for a Jan loan signing, but why didn't we do this and pay a fee?

"They announce now but we knew before.." Is he saying they (NUFC) were allowing him to sign permanently earlier but for some reason we didn't want to convert or announce the loan to a permanent sooner or just lost in translation?

Well, it turns out that Rafa was correct; the FA registrations booklet for September has now been released and it shows that Krul's permanent transfer was completed on September 8, twelve days before Albion announced it on September 20.

It also means that Krul was on loan to Albion for precisely 8 days (using up, remember, our one remaining loan from a fellow Premier League club).

It all seems a little odd; why would Albion not announce the permanent signing the day it happened? Why would they ask Newcastle to keep it quiet (which, based upon Rafa's comment, they obviously had)? Why sign Krul on a loan deal in the first place, rather than permanently, that was then converted to a permanent deal only 8 days later?

I think that maybe the player himself was undecided and thought he'd take the loan to see how things were, then once here realised that we as a football club were worth signing permanently for!!

There was a lot going on just before the deadline. One player failing a medical, another set to come but a team mate got injured etc. Our recruitment team were spinning plates, so it's possible that a quick loan deal was signed on the understanding it was always going to be converted.
