Did anyone catch the absolute class behaviour after the final whistle by Evans and host of the West Brom players. They shook hands with all out players, and Evans especially went around shoulder bumping and hugging our players, especially Duffy obviously.

No sulking, no bitterness, just respect.

Oh and the ref and officials were brilliant yesterday

Very enjoyable day!

There are many aspects of the whole 'growing in to the Premier League' thing, and occasions like that are part of it. Players talk to each other, and if someone, a class act, like Evans is saying what a great place to play the Amex could be for a home player on days like that, it may influence some come windows in the future.

Just great to see the team looking like they believe they deserve to be there, wonderful stuff.

I didn't really notice the referee, which means he had a good game.

Screaming in her face and then threw the ball away but got away with it. Yet Murray got booked for being a bit mouthy.

Other than failing to book Evans, the officials had a very good game.

Back on topic, the WBA players seem to have adopted the same level of humility and respect as their manager.

Duffy is Northern Irish by birth.
Without getting into the politics of it - anyone born on the island of Ireland is automatically entitled to Republic of Ireland citizenship.

Duffy is a Catholic from Derry who grew up playing Gaelic football - Evans is a Protestsnt from East Belfast - in terms of the politics of Northern Ireland that means that he might as well have been from the moon.

Now - Evans seems a terrific, respectful guy (I think he handled himself exceptionally well over all the transfer rumours last month unlike a lot of other prima-donnas) and the fact that he came to Duffy yesterday to congratulate him is nothing other than positive in the context of Northern Irish politics - but you are stepping into a sectarian minefield if you try and imply anything more than that.

Nope -

Evans is a Northern Irish international

Duffy is from the Republic.

The only team the Republic fans want to beat more than the North are the English.

Is incorrect..

Born in (London)Derry in Northern Ireland, Duffy played for Northern Ireland at youth international level before switching allegiance to the Republic of Ireland. He made his debut for their senior team in 2014 and represented the country at UEFA Euro 2016.

Players such as Duffy, James McClean, Daniel Kearns, Darron Gibson and Marc Wilson had represented Northern Ireland at youth level but later opted to play for Republic of Ireland. The IFA disputed the players' right to do so under FIFA rules[26] and felt the current rules were a "clear disadvantage over all other 206 Associations".[27] The Irish Football Association took a case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport with the hope of getting FIFA to 'uphold' the rules.[28] Although Duffy's name is often linked with this dispute and the IFA appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, his situation differs from that of players such as Darron Gibson because of his close family ties to Donegal. This means he would have been eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland wherever he was born.

The issue was settled in 2010 when it was declared, as Irish citizens, Northern Ireland-born people are entitled to play for either the Republic or Northern Ireland.[8] Gibson represented Ireland at UEFA Euro 2012.

They might have played together in the Northern Ireland youth set up before Duffy switched to the ROI?

Just a guess.

Evans is 4 years older than Duffy. Evans made his full Northern Ireland debut in 2006, 2 years before Shane Duffy started with their Under 16s.

Murray got booked for leading with his forearm when he challenged for the ball.
