Except it wasn't a failure. Don't be so thick. Every single one of the players we've signed has had a massive impact. It's an A instead of an A+ I guess.

Most have made an impact and they are getting better with each game. We needed a striker and could've done with 2. I'd say a B, not perfect but pretty good

We offered sums that would have been club record fees for more than 1 striker.
For various reasons all deals collapsed.
These sums were offered as club knew this was our priority.
This thread title states transfer window, not how is our season going.
We did not fill our top priority in the window and this led us to a position where we played a PL game without a centre forward.
If you don't complete your target you have failed.

There's a long way to go, before the club can buy a striker or 2.
Hopefully we'll make it into 2018 feeling like we do now, but then that'll only be through luck over judgment.

You had to be pretty 'special' to write off Propper, Gross, Jose, & Ryan, I know they've all been criticised but did anybody get all 4?

Gotta feel for any strikers who do come in, the bar has been set fookin high.
If they're not better than Messi and costing £10m, heads will roll.

PB could have spent £40m like West Ham and finished up with Ayew and Antanovich would that have made anybody happy certainly not me.

There've been quite a few expensive flops acquired in August.

Bony, Sakho at Smellhurst, Sigurdsson, Maguire, Keane and all other Everton flops.

Huge sums spent on players who have played poorly and regularly tasted defeat.

Our recruitment team is brilliant. We have learned lessons and continue to learn. That does not guarantee success. Our start has been decent. We can create and score. Anyone STILL bemoaning the summer transfer window needs to sober up.

Bollocks. Stains have scored :annoyed:

Rubbish, it's not an all or nothing exercise, it's a fluid process in which your transfer success is judged on the quality of the team you can put out. Bringing in 4 new players to England and the Premier League and ALL 4 are looking quality is a successful window regardless of missing out on a striker. Case in point West Ham secured forward targets Chicarito and Arnautovic. Nuff said.

Are you sure? It seems that the cause of our current feeling has far more to do with CH's (not to mention PW's) judgment, and has sod all to do with luck.

Quality and value, don't always follow .

It's odd how so many on here are equating how much is spent on a player to their ability.

We're talking about football clubs here, pi$$ing money up walls is what they do..
All of whom get it wrong sometimes, but now they have the added pressure of relegation being almost terminal and an extra £xxm added to their income.

You're talking current feelings, I'm projecting through to when the squad can be strengthened.

Tomer wasn't 'lucky', Murray hasn't been lucky with injuries recently, and Baldock well christ knows what he's done to upset the gods.

The transfer success rate since Burke left, in a notoriously difficult art/science, has been immense.

Barely any flops, and those who were, were either short term loanees or bought for fees that wouldn't damage the club.

The Barber, Winstanley and Hughton triumverate on transfers has worked wonders.

The target was to improve the squad sufficiently to give us a chance of stating in the PL. We haven't failed yet.
