MK Dons commentators are absolutely right with the team that Brighton have put out it is men against boys and a mismatch. Hope they are better in the second half. Last year we fielded one or two senior players. Why have we not played some of the recent signings Mateju,Ahannach, and Molumby Alzate , Bjordal the more senior players from the under 23's. It looks like we are just blooding youngsters than giving some fringe players experience and game time.

I can't understand the reasoning for not playing any of those you mention, could Sidwell have had 45-60 mins? Has Ahannach featured for the U23's at all yet? Even if 1st team squad, you'd have expected him to have played at some stage for U23's just to have match experience in the UK.

I seriously think that the U23's should be 23 or under, same for the other squads.
Stupid all these grown men playing against kids, can't see the point, unless it is just a run out.

In the Checkatrade Trophy games it's actually an Under 21 team that we have to field rather than the usual under 23 team.

"The selection criteria for invited under-21 teams is ‘six players from the starting 11 must be under the age of 21 as of 30th June 2017.’"

Yes, 6 U21s - and 5 others. The criticism is that we didn't include enough strength and experience in those 5 free hits.

At times last night it did look like men v boys, but our players will learn a lot from the game and be better for it. At times we played very well, and some of the passing was excellent. The young team did make mistakes, for example taking too long to pass the ball. We were unlucky a couple of times when the final ball was intercepted, but overall the player will get better. The MK team were more physical and stronger, they also rushed us when we had the ball.

The Checkatrade Trophy is not a priority of CH or the first time.

Not a question of priority, but surely the more games they play the more they learn. Not being competitive and roughed up by solid pros may help in development but also playing with some of our own senior players would develop the better ones more. Last season we did this and qualified for the later rounds and more game time. This season we seem to have taken a different direction. We are not even playing our best under 23's in the games so would ask the question why.
