We were never seriously in for him beyond an initial enquiry to see if he was available or not - the type of first step the recruitment department would have made on literally dozens of players. It never even got as far as CH. As it is, the player obviously found playing in front of 5,000 in a nothing league but with European football and massive wages more attractive than full houses either with us or Newcastle, but in a league where he's struggled in the past. You can see his point.

I'm sure clubs in the bigger leagues will look at him again next summer. Perhaps he needs a year as the 'Big Fish' in a smaller league.
