Gambling advertising

We're absolutely plyed with gambling adverts and sites. My little girl can't even play a princess game without being bombarded with f**king gambling ap adverts. The TV is awash with roulette. So easy to play, drag you in and when you wake up you look at your bank account and you can't believe what you did. I feel I'm lucky and I can walk away but I swear this industry is getting out of hand and I'm positive lives are being destroyed because of the ease to blow £££££ in one night. Well done the government I won't ever smoke another cigarette now the packs are green :moo: just let me see if I can get back the £500 I've lost in the last hour. I'm sure I can. For the record I've just lost £40 to skybet on roulette after playing for the first time in a year. Think it was flicking on to a roulette channel on the TV that kinda roped me in.Is it me or has it gone to far? I'd sign something tomorrow that ceases the promotion of gambling. Interested to know the thoughts and experiences of the NSC masses.

P.s sorry if it fixtures from threads past

P.p.s it's been a good night

Gambling ads everywhere, especially with football.
TV ads, pitch-side banners, electronic scrolling banners, on the shirts, everywhere.

Horrible industry. Preying on vulnerable people.

It's you. You're weak. And yes, too many gambling site adverts on telly. Because there's too many weak people who lap it up.

If you noticed yesterday, loads of ads either in Chinese, or for Asia-based companies.....aimed at what are now the the primary tv audience for the game.

100% agreed.
Needs to be regulated a lot better than it currently is.
The advert that really grinds my gears is the X Factor games. Why does a successful TV show need to open its own online casino? I don't use casinos but it has always baffled me as to why the games all seem to be film/TV or video game related.

As a compulsive gambler myself it does disappoint me that very little is being done to stop more people falling into the bookmakers trap.
I would never ban gambling, just like I would never ban alcohol or tobacco, but gambling addiction is becoming a serious problem in this country and its going to continue for many years to come unless something is done.

Totally agree with the OP.

Gambling just doesn't do it for me. But I am sick and tired of listening to Ray Winstone telling me to gamble responsibly during every single commercial break of a live sport event. The sheer volume of online betting ads is absolutely ridiculous - particularly as they are all much of a muchness.

You don't see adverts for addictive drugs and alcohol ads have to be in at a certain time - so why the hell is this allowed to continue?

Agreed. An advertising ban like the one they introduced for cigerettes would seem like a very good idea.

Are you in Asia on a trip? Can advertising hoardings be digitally changed for different TV markets to increase revenue? If not I may start up the business. I haven't watched MOTD yet and Strava does not give me any info of your whereabouts since the 18th.

Even small parades of shops always seem to have a bookies amongst them now as well as their massive presence online. The trouble is people fall for the advertising when they are leading miserable lives, all the taglines go on about the "Fun " to be had with online betting, Bingo, Poker and Fruit machines but its no fun as soon as you lose... Avoid !

 I like a flutter every now again. So do a lot of people. Not so sure that's makes me or anyone else weak. Especially if you know when to walk away. What concerns me is the ones who don't or can't walk away, and the constant bombardment and glamourisation of this industry that is destroying said people's lives.
