One of the greatest entertainers this country has ever produced they will still be talking about him in a 100 years.

To have one TV landmark show in your career is a great achievement, to have 4 indicates the magnitude of the man.

Even so, the poor man is barely cold and his family are just coming to terms with the loss. A little tact from national broadcasters would go a long way. Just common decency I suppose.

They have to fill out the story though. They can't just say "Bruce Forsyth is dead at 89. He was on the Generation Game and Strictly Come Dancing, and was known for his awkwardly scripted jokes. The end". Personally, I don't think it's disrespectful to have a summary of somebody's life ready to go in the event that they depart this mortal coil. It will happen to all of us at some point. I'd have thought many viewers would find it disappointing if the media didn't have a tribute ready to go when somebody famous dies.

An all round entertainer and a song and dance man at heart. Some entertainers go through their careers with a single catch phrase. Brucie had many, all instantly recognisable. He was Mr Showbiz and will never be forgotten.

Had the pleasure of meeting him about 5 years ago at Wentworth, thoroughly decent bloke and happy to socialise with us mere mortals. Good fun and did a lot for others. RIP

Could take or leave him really! I fully accept he's a bit of a broadcasting legend in this country, and was evidently a talented bloke. Personally, I think he might have become a little bit of of a parody of himself by the time he left Strictly, but I get why he's respected and, it seems, revered. Very much of his generation (no pun intended) perhaps?

Sad news. An entertainment giant.

They way it was announced between Flog It and Pointless this afternoon, with Sophie Raworth wearing a black top and looking very sombre, I thought it was Queenie or Phillip that had gone. It was the entertainment king instead. He played a good game though.

RIP Sir Bruce, possibly the last of the great music hall all-round entertainers who could carry almost any show on his own. A huge talent, I can't think of many people that could compere a live mainstream TV show in his 80's. Bye Sir Bruce. :bowdown:

Me too, he lived on Wentworth golf course and I used to live in Ascot.
We would bump into him every now and again, the best one was when Mrs Chopper and I were in a Chinese restaurant in Sunninghill when Bruce and his whole family turned up and sat at the next table, I spent the whole evening laughing. A very nice man.
