Oooh... almost a wicket... half-hearted cut from Cook just evades backward point.

Drinks - England 390-3 (104 overs)

Another record for Cook - I see he has surpassed Gower as most test runs by an England player at Edgbaston.

What a depressingly predictable one sided match this is turning out to be.

England failures at #1 and #3 - check
England batting far too good for the once proud WI team - check
Dreadful bowling - check

I think a lot more than day-night changes need to happen to rescue world wide test match cricket. :(

Alastair Cook 202* (339 balls, 30 fours)

His 4th double hundred in Test Match cricket :clap2:

294 v India 2011 Edgbaston
263 v Pakistan 2015 Abu Dhabi
235* v Australia 2010 Brisbane

(and it was a shocking misfield at third man :nono:)

I get your point but this match also holds a morbid curiosity - could this be England's biggest test win against the Windies? Can the hapless Malan bag an unlikely test ton? Will Cook beat his previous best of 294?

and will a humiliating series in England shame Cricket West Indies into doing something to shake this up, or just precipitate an even greater slump or complete withdrawal from Test cricket?

If those are the questions that interest you, then maybe we should organise a game against France? This WI team is incredibly poor, made all the worse because of the anti-T20 bias in their selection process. Are people really going to want to pay to watch this standard of opposition in 5 years time?

It's not that it is so one-sided. It is the fact that everybody KNEW it was going to be this one-sided.

Out of nowhere, Malan goes in the final over before lunch... edging Chase and easily caught at slip for 65

'Lunch', Day Two

England 449-4 (117.2 overs, RR3.82)

Cook 213* and Malan 65 added 101 runs from 27.2 overs in the 'morning' session, and their partnership was 162. :clap2:
