Stoneman has only played one innings, stop writing him off.

Sake.

Not writing him off but it is a concern because he is 30 years old and not getting younger. Had he been 25 it would have given him more time to blend in but at his age he has to hit the ground running for us to reap the benefit.

Chris Rogers can into the Australian team as an opener in his 30's.

How did that work out?

Stop concerning yourself over his age.

There are exception s to every rule. Didnt we bring back Brian Close when he was about 45 years old? David Shepherd who hadnt played for 2 years but they were exceptions when we were in desperate need. Incidentally both proved their worth that class is forever form is temporary.

Also last year you were calling for the 40 year old Marcus Trescothick to be recalled, even though he had made it clear that he had not desire to play for England again.

Yet the 30 year old Mark Stoneman is too old to play test cricket?

Again like the Close Shepherd scenario it was a needs must suggestion to help out a crisis, which we are still suffering from, a partner to Cook.

Last 6 series:

Won 2-1 in South Africa
Won 2-0 home v Sri Lanka
Drew 2-2 home v Pakistan
Drew 1-1 home v Bangladesh
Lost 0-4 in India
Won 3-1 home v South Africa

No really a CRISIS, is it, now?

Joe Root 51* (83 balls, 10 fours) :clap2:

His 30th fifty, with 12 hundreds in 58 matches..

50's in 11 successive Test Matches (only 1 behind ABdV now) :clap2:

England 130-2 (34.2 overs)

Alternatively, a 30 year old has more experience and is likely in the best form of his life.

Neither of them succeeded. Just took a lot of nasty blows.
