How Many MILLIONS Has B&H Council Wasted On These New Black Recycling Wheelie Bins?

I think that there are all sorts of EU grants available (presumably short term) to councils who meet recycling targets. Here in High Wycombe, which isn't much of a place, each house was given three bins (grey for rubbish, blue for tins, bottles and green for garden rubbish) plus a box for cardboard and paper and a separate caddy for food waste. It's almost a full time job sorting all this out but it seems to work. They collect the rubbish and recycling bins on a fortnightly basis, taking each in turn. I do believe that they got all sorts of money in grants to buy new lorries, so maybe that's what Brighton council are after. Unhappily language is a barrier to the council's best efforts, and it is a common sight to see an unemptied blue recycling bin full of rubbish that they can't recycle so won't emptty.

Main problem with the boxes is many people have lost lids and rubbish just flies about all over the place and animals can get at food easier.

Bins are much better.

Labour control the council FWIW and won't be booted out as Greens won't let Cons in

The new bins are great, no need anymore to take boxes apart so they are flat and can fit in the box, just throw it as is into the bin.
