What rule change would improve the game?

I think that offisde should only be applied in the penalty area. That would mean clubs keeping their big men back and not put us under pressure from CB attacking our back 4. Also revive or action the rule on the time goalkeepers can hold the ball by making it 4 seconds and enforce it. 5 minute sin bins instead of yellow cards with 2 being a red as now.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
Change the "Rolling Ball" rule so that a free-kick can be taken quickly with a roll of one revolution of the circumference of the ball allowed. How many quick free-kicks have seen brought back because the ball wasn't totally stationary, hence giving the defending team the chance to get back and regroup.

If when a free-kick is awarded and an opposing player runs towards the placed ball preventing the kick from being taken, they should receive a yellow card.

If a free-kick is awarded in a teams' own half, it can be taken within a "reasonably short distance" from the committed offence. How many times do we see a free-kick retaken because the ball wasn't placed exactly where the offence took place, even being so far away from the opponents goal, it doesn't make any difference. It just holds up play and frustrates the players and crowd.

Anyone wearing a shirt with a combination of red and blue gets a yellow card on kick off.

When taking penalties, all players, other than the goalkeeper and the penalty taker have to stand in the other half. Therefore no encroachment in the penalty area, no tactics to put off and delay the penalty taker. The lino could officiate this whilst the ref and other lino are all over the penalty.

Imagine the scramble to get down there if the penalty hits the woodwork and the penalty taker can't touch it :)

1 - Stop that NONSENSE where defenders seem to be allowed to "shepherd" the ball out as it SLOWLY trundles towards the byline.

If you blocked players like that ANYWHERE else on the pitch it would be a free kick, yet that farce is allowed to happen.

2 - If you fall to the ground when "hit" in the face, you also get sent off.

3 - Swearing directly AT an official. Red card. I accept swearing happens, but there is a difference between "For **** Sake" and "You ***** ****** that was our throw in you """"""" "
I appreciate it would be nigh on impossible to achieve the rugby culture of never disagreeing with a ref (sadly) but out right abuse has to be punished. It's embarrassing and has filtered down to all levels of the game.

4 - Definition on handball. If your arm in in an unnatural position, that's handball. End of it. Otherwise, it's just bad luck and we carry on.
