I could never look another socialist in the eye if I read the Telegraph. It would be a betrayal to my working class brothers and sisters.

But it is ok to read it on an NSC thread, Yes?

Anyone able to copy it so I don't have to give money to the Barclay brothers' offshore account?

Surprising and disappointing attitude from a journalist.

Maybe but something about the Telegraph sticks in the craw (and it's not because it's Tory). I do pay for content on other sites where the owners aren't hiding behind tax havens.

Fair enough, if you have some issue. Just ignore the article.

Instead, you're actively encouraging people to rip off a journalist's work ("Anyone able to copy?").

Yeah, that is a fair point. I'll ignore in the future

Great article, and really brings home the extent of the off-field improvements we've had to make to bring the Amex up to scratch. Never would have thought it needed THAT much doing to it, but I'm a lot clearer now on just what that £6m worth of improvements has gone on. Like THPP, I'd completely forgotten about the Hawkeye goal-line technology that had to be installed. And personally, I'm delighted that the floodlights have FINALLY been upgraded. I've always felt the lighting to be a bit DIM at the Amex since day (well night) one. Good to see that's been addressed, even if we were forced into it.

The futures bright.

Peeps at the match on Sunday also reported that the sound system has been upgraded too - thank goodness

oh come now, its essential to read all sides to get a rounded view. How can you try and convince them if you don't understand them. Biggest mistake we make on the left is demonising Tory voters and not understanding the genuine reasons why they vote the way they do

I've never had an issue with the sound from my perch in the WSU. I'm guessing my eardrums are going to be BLASTED on Saturday then...

For the Manchester City game, I love the catering team preparing to beat the record beer sales of 41,000 pints.....thats a lot of pints.

Given the number of Under 18s, people who don't drink, or drink wine etc it's a pretty decent average per person.

Always think it's a shame the whole top up your season ticket and pay with that thing didn't work - purely from a basis of them sending me an email at the end of the season telling me I've bought 110 pints, 27 pies and 3 hot dogs that season.

Whatever one thinks of the Telegraph, it's worth reading Albion-supporting Paul Hayward's articles if you appreciate quality sports writing.

Back in February, Paul won the Sports Writer of the Year for the 2nd year running.

Having battled cancer in 2015, Paul wrote these words:

“Sport is my living, and a passion, too. But I understand it better now, nearly 30 years into the job. Much of the best sports writing is about the life stories that underpin the winning and losing. ‘Adversity overcome’ is a default mode for reporting and broadcasting. A corollary is that sport can help people in the most profound ways, on the field and up in the stands. It can help make sense of life and connect people in difficulty to a world they have fallen out of and to which they fear they may never return.”

Anyone who's ever gone through any kind of trauma in life can understand this.

Sport is a great healer.

I wonder why the Stains-supporting Jeremy Wilson was sent to write about us rather than our very own Paul H.

An argument that also works in reverse. Wouldn't it be wonderful if everybody could be that tolerant of opposing viewpoints......
