When you think it was only opened in 1977 the best part was the social club at the back which was an old Victorian school
Has been much improved.

That's quite interesting. Much of the area in Victorian times was an utter slum which was pulled down to make way for the Blaker Street area development. Edward Street was also quite poor. The school obviously survived the clearance. Must look it up on some of the dated maps I've got.

Amex used use the pub across the road called the little globe my wife had a summer job counting used Travellers chequers as student.
Also I remember the Dog Tray further down the road and the pub opposite the Thurlow I think somone was murdered outside it.Also had an interesting Christmas party in the Bulldog St James street So many of the pubs have gone.
