The sort of thing that I'd like doing but way too expensive (as was the wheel). Looks a bit tame compared to the one in Wales too

Though at £70 will sadly be giving this a miss too!

Some how I knew you'd be along with your dreary arrogance. It's VERY SIMPLE - the Wheel applied for an extension to their stay - the council rejected it because there was a clause in the i360 deal to prevent competition due to the PWL. The wheel was considered competition - the zip wire is completely different and so isn't.

There was no logical or planning reason for the council to reject the planning extension. Planning Officers recommended allowing the extension - it was politicians who rejected it.

Wrong. It was part of the council's pre-determined policy that the wheel was only ever there as a temporary attraction until such time as the i360 was built - it took 10 years from approval to opening. Seeing as the i360 was coming on line, the wheel's days were numbered, so an extension was denied. That was always going to be the case.

I appreciate that doesn't fit in with your grubby agenda, but that really is your problem.

I need to renegotiate terms with the local strip club.

As a similar comparison :

A ride on the zip for an hour @ 30 seconds a ride = £1920
A ride on a decent escort for an hour = £200

Hmmmmm .....

Wrong - council officers recommended the extension for approval. Plenty of documents out there proving it - here's a news story about it - http://www.brightonandhovenews.org/...ton-wheels-extension-should-be-granted/40080/

Stop believing your party.

Why could both attractions co-exist?

Getting rid of one just because the other attraction had been built would have been a bit like saying they'll demolish one pier once the 2nd pier on the seafront was completed.

Apart from being competition to the i360, what other reasons were there for the Council to turn it down? especially as people within the Council were recommending an extension?

I went on Sunday to have a look and it was full of muslims....blokes going down the wires and their massive families in burkas etc cheering them on. It was a very multi cultural experience and nice to see.

Also, has everyone noticed how many Chinese students and Chinese visitors there are in brighton these days. We must be coining it in. Wonder how many want to come and watch the albion?

No idea. It was council policy from when they realised the i360 was going to take longer than expected (around 2007-08 ish), and they allowed the temporary structure of the Brighton Eye to go ahead.

The planning officers recommended approval as it ticked the appropriate planning boxes. However, it was refused as it wasn't part of the council's own policy. The planning committee is within its rights to go against officers' recommendations. That's not 'dirty politics' as Westdene Seagull's fantasy would have you believe - that's them just following through on their stated policy.

The Zipwire at the Eden Project is £25 so that makes the Brighton one seem quite good value in comparison.

Er, The Eden project is about generating as much hard cash as possible... was down that way once and we had a half day spare and thought of visiting, the prices were eye watering. Go to Garden Paradise in Newhaven instead and save about £20 on the entrance fee and save the planet the £60 its going to cost you, and the planet, in petrol.

The 12/12A/12X buses are full of Japanese tourists, who have the Seven Sisters park & Cuckmere valley, on their itiinery. It is actually recommended for a visit back in Japan.
